GAS LAMP PLAYERS
Gas Lamp Inc. is a U.S. 501(c)(3) not-for-profit, independent arts organization. We are funded by revenues generated through participation fees, ticket sales & program ads, and are run by a group of dedicated professionals and volunteers. We welcome anyone with an interest in the performing arts to become involved with our programs. The Glen Ridge Board of Education provides valuable space for classes, rehearsals and performances at the Glen Ridge High School and the Ridgewood Avenue School Auditorium. Gas Lamp Players is proud to donate revenue from each project back to the school system and to various organizations in Glen Ridge.
The mission of Gas Lamp Players is to nurture character, creativity, confidence, compassion and community through the performing arts. Gas Lamp Players’ educational philosophy is rooted in a deep belief in our mission; each young person who takes part in our programs is seen as an individual with his or her own strengths, talents and goals. No matter what role he or she plays in a particular production, our professional educators make sure that each young performer is challenged to grow to his or her potential. The educational wing of our non-profit organization provides a community for children and teens to develop creativity, character, confidence and compassion through the performing arts. Our classes and summer camps culminate in full-scale productions taught professional artists and educators. While our performances are of the highest quality, our classes allow our young performers to hone important skills in acting, voice, diction, dance in addition to understanding the importance of cooperation and working as an ensemble. Each year, Gas Lamp Players stages a Main Stage Production with a cast of adults, teens and children from Glen Ridge and the surrounding communities. We are proud to have so many families that audition, rehearse and perform together on the Ridgewood Ave. Stage. Fathers and daughters, mothers and sons, cousins and uncles…the spirit of community is alive and well in our non-profit organization. Each year, the Main Stage production gives us the opportunity to welcome new and returning members of our Gas Lamp Family.
We are extremely grateful for the continued support of the Glen Ridge school district and community.
Gas Lamp Players is run by a dedicated team, the Executive Officers, who meets each week and is in charge of the day-to-day business of Gas Lamp Players. The members of the Executive Committee are Sarajane Boyle, Susan Knight Carlin, Kristy Graves, Teressa Kallay, Eileen Kelly and Rennae Pelayo.
The Board of Directors of Gas Lamp Inc. includes Don Flynn, Lisa McElwee, Brandee McHale and Miriam Tensuan. The full Board meets four times a year and helps with the overall direction of Gas Lamp Inc.
