Program Description/Schedule

WINTER 2018

New for Winter 2018 - Audition Workshop for 4th - 6th Grade ONLY!

During this 7 week class series, students will come prepared with 2 contrasting songs - an uptempo and a ballad.  These would be selections that are age appropriate that and can be used in a real life audition setting.  Over the course of seven weeks, they will learn how to interpret and act through their pieces for performance,  as well as find a good 16-32 bar cut for auditions.  In addition, they will learn the "art" of cold readings, as this is a necessary skill for auditioning as well and super fun!!  The series will end with a "mock audition" in front of a NYC industry panel who will give each student constructive feedback on their 2 contrasting songs and feedback on their cold readings.

CLASS SIZE WILL BE LIMITED TO 15 STUDENTS

Option 1: Tuesdays, 3:30pm-5:00pm - 7 classes beginning January 2nd

Option 2: Tuesdays, 5:30pm-7:00pm - 7 classes beginning January 2nd

Elf The Musical JR. is a family friendly holiday musical that gives our young performers the chance to hone their acting, singing and dancing skills.  Elf JR. features songs by Tony Award-nominees, Matthew Sklar and Chad Beguelin, with a book by Tony Award-winners, Thomas Meehan and Bob Martin. Buddy, a young orphan, mistakenly crawls into Santa's bag of gifts and is transported to the North Pole. The would-be elf is raised, unaware that he is actually a human, until his enormous size and poor toy-making abilities cause him to face the truth. With Santa's permission, Buddy embarks on a journey to New York City to find his birth father and discover his true identity. Faced with the harsh reality that his father is on the naughty list and that his half-brother doesn't even believe in Santa, Buddy is determined to win over his new family and help New York remember the true meaning of Christmas. Directed by our Guest Directors Erin Dilly (Tony-nominated Broadway actress) and accomplished director/actress Heather Ballantyne, this class and production will be an amazing experience for our 1st-7th graders.

This modern-day holiday classic is sure to make every young performer embrace his or her "inner elf" with plenty of large ensemble numbers featuring elves and (New Yorkers) of every type.
