Amy Baldassare: Amy started dancing at age four, and totally fell in love with it. Over the years she studied ballet, pointe, tap, jazz, modern, ballroom and various ethnic dances, including belly dance, hula/tahitian dance, and several folk dance styles. Although she grew up in Iowa, her teacher brought her to New York to study with David Howard, Melissa Hayden and Charles Kelly. Amy began teaching at age 15, with students from pre-school to she began teaching again seven years ago in the Discovery program at Linden Avenue. She has been honored to work with Gas Lamp Players for the past few years.
Greg Cancro: Greg's theatrical background includes acting, directing and producing. He has performed in over 50 plays, ranging from community theater to Off-Broadway, and produced 2 Off-Broadway plays. In 1995, he started his own theatrical production company, Something for Everyone Productions, specializing in interactive/improv-murder mysteries. All this has led to a great desire to impart improv techniquest to the next generation of great performers. Says Greg, "You may never forgive me for teaching your children these skills."
Kristy Graves: Kristy began performing professionally when she was 10 years old, touring in Annie playing the title role. She then settled in NYC and appeared on Broadway, Off- Broadway, in feature films and in many television commercials and series including As the World Turns and Star Search. She is proud to have worked on stage with some of the great legends such as Bernadette Peters, Tony Randall, and director/choreographer Susan Stroman, as well as in film with Woody Allen, Mia Farrow, Gwen Verdon, Blythe Danner, Matt Dillon, William Hurt and Omar Epps. Kristy is very pleased to be settling down as a mother of three and working with your kids in the field of her dreams.
Stephanie Herr: A native Floridian, Stephanie Herr received her music education at the University of Miami. While there, she wrote the drills and choreographed the half-time shows for the UM Band of the Hour, King Orange Bowl and several local high schools. After moving to NJ, she became a member of the NJ Federation of Music, serving as their president and a delegate to the National Federation of Music. She opened her current piano studio in 1994, is a licensed Kindermusik instructor, and for the last seven years has been the cherub choir director for the Glen Ridge Congregational church. Stephanie became a member of the Gas Lamp Family on 2004 and has loved every minute of working with the community's youth.
Kellyn Johnson: Kellyn Johnson is a recent graduate of The College of William and Mary with a double B.A. in Theatre and English. A product of the Gas Lamp Players, Kellyn has been performing with the group since 1991, with her most recent appearance as Vi in Footloose. In addition to her college training, Kellyn has studied the Michael Chekhov Technique with MICHA at Tisch, Actioning with Marina Calderone, the author of Actions: The Actor's Thesaurus , in London, Period Movement and Speech with Liz Wiley, Applied Voice, and Theatre Dance. Her recent directorial production of Shakespeare's R&J by Joe Calarco played for sold out houses in William and Mary's second season and her accompanying thesis, Her Eye Discourse: Answering the Female Gaze, was awarded High Honors and is currently in preparation for publication.
Jessica Sporn: Jessica has been involved with Gas Lamp since 1991, playing various roles and wearing many hats. Jessica is a graduate of New York's High School of Performing Arts, and performed in various shows and cabarets in New York while completing her under-graduate degree at NYU's University Without Walls. A former member of the Frank Hatchett Dancers, Jessica taught Jazz at the Broadway Dance Center in Manhattan, as well as for Dance Pros in Montclair. Gas Lamp performance, choreography and/or production credits include The Music Man, Once Upon A Mattress, Bye Bye Birdie, Big, Peter Pan, Oliver, Joseph, and Fiddler. Jessica believes that participation in the arts is a transforming and enriching experience, and is grateful to all who have made Gas Lamp possible.
Carrie Yacono: Carrie is thrilled to be teaching with GLAPA again. She recently made her directing debut with Gas Lamp’s production The Wizard of Oz. Carrie has been working professionally for the past thirteen years as an actress, designer, and theater manager. Her credits are in New York City, (regional) New Jersey, Pittsburgh, Memphis and she is currently production manager at Luna Stage in Montclair. Carrie was last seen on-stage in Running Rabbit Family Theatre’s musical production of Treasure Island, where the whole cast used spoken word, song and American Sign Language. Carrie earned a BA at the conservatory of Point Park University with a double concentration in musical theater & production design, and an MFA from the University of Memphis in lighting design.
